Growth of the French Hydraulic Excavators sales 2017: France is cut in two!

15/1/2018

In units, French Hydraulic Excavators market is dominated by the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes followed by the regions Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Provence-Alpes-Côtes d’Azur and Ile-de-France. Owing to the rising infrastructural investments and urbanization in the most important metropolitan areas such as Lyon and Paris, the regions witness strong growth in demand for hydraulic excavators.

But, in terms of % growth, France is cut in two. The northern half appears really dynamic whereas the growth of the excavator market in the southern half of the country is much lower. The region of Ile-de-France achieved the strongest growth (+50% from January to November 2017 compared to year 2016) immediately followed by the region of Normandie. Conversely, the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine remained stable.

Among explanations, the Greater Paris Express is the Europe's most ambitious urban project for the next 10 years. And work has only just begun!

In Normandie, the construction of a new viaduct at Guerville on the Paris-Normandy Motorway is in progress. The six existing tracks will be also renovated. This project started last year and should finished by 2022.

In addition, investments on the three ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris amount to € 1,546 billion over the period 2016 to 2018.

In the south-western part (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), the stabilization of the market can be explained in part by the completion of the TGV work towards Bordeaux.

End of November, the total French market is up 20%.

The booming construction market is further expected to continue to drive the growth of the market. France is expected to exhibit steady growth in the global hydraulic excavators market in 2018.
