The French excavator market continue to increase. End of May, the market for both types combined (compact and heavy excavators) is growing by 0,5% compared to the same period last year, during which records were reached.

A few regions, in most northern regions, experienced a decrease. For example, the Normandy region records a drop of 29% over the period. But, 10 regions are growing. Among them, the major regions: Region of Lyon (Rhône-Alpes) [+5%], the South East region (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) [+8%] and the region of Paris (Ile-de-France) [+8%]. Those three regions represent just under 40% of the total market.

The fiscal law which was introduced last year to encourage investment is no longer in effect this year. However, the market remains dynamic. Interest rates are still low. Managers are confident. Regions and municipalities have more funds for civil engineering activity. Lastly, next city council elections for the mayors office will take place in 2020. The current period is therefore favorable for municipalities to undertake roadworks, building construction and so on.
