French crawler excavators sales rise

Sales of crawler excavators in France increased 23% year-on-year, during the first seven months of 2017

During the first seven months, crawler excavator’s sales grew 23%, compared to the first seven months of 2016.

Confidence surveys remain very positive this year. Building construction is growing up. The civil engineering activity in France is improving. The rental sector, which is estimated to account for over 60% of supply in the French market, up 31% concerning crawler excavators.

Close to 7,800 units over the period, mini excavators are really popular. Sales increased 25% compared to last year. Sales to renters up 33% on the previous year.

Sales of crawler excavators between 6 to 12 tons are rising too (+19% over the period). Sales to renters explain a significant share of this increase.

A last, sales of heavy crawler excavators > 12 tons are growing up by 11% over the first seven months. The segment between 21 tons to 24 tons (which account for 28% of the total sales) and, most importantly, the segment 24 to 28 tons (18% of the total) recorded the most important growth over the period, +17% and +52% respectively.

Just over 12,800 crawler excavators were sold in France last year. According to manufacturers, the French market could reach 15,700 units this year, which represents a 23% annual increase.
